Women Against Mass Incarceration (WAMI) is a non-profit organization working to empower women, girls, and families who have been directly/indirectly justice-impacted by incarceration (formerly or presently), trauma-survived, or seeking support. Through our re-entry work, advocacy and political education, our aim is to elevate, educate and empower women and girls in efforts to end mass incarceration.
WAMI knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but through the actions of our initiatives. We support our community and empower women’s lives in a multitude of ways. We measure our success not by popularity, but by the effectiveness of our efforts and the lives touched. Our vision is a world where the current criminal (in)justice system is obsolete.
We uphold this ideal through the transformative work we do to end the mass incarceration issue that plagues our nation. By working together, we can overcome our barriers much more efficiently, which is why we lift as we climb, leaving no woman behind.
